Several of the publio schools in Auck« lnnd aro overcrowded, and pupils have becii refused admission, to tho Ponsonby, Mount Eden, Bayficld, Grfey Lynn, ana Richmond Road Schools. Tho ■ congestion at theso echools indicates tho direonori in wjiich tho population is crowing, as the institutions close to tho city, tho Napier Street, Bcrcsford Strcot, and Kelson Street Schools'have room for lnrffo niinVbers of pupilsj in fact, the niuuibor of pnpils'who cannot obtain admission to the overcrowded suburban schools could All bo accommodated in any one of tho city eohoole, but parents who live in tho suburbs desire to send their, .children, to, the, school, nearest their-home. Steps are 'beinij taken to provide additional accommodation at eome of the eohools that are overcrowded. Enlargements aro to be made at the Kichmond Eoad School til provide rboni' for 100 more pupils, and tho Grey Lynn School is also to bo enlarged. The congestion to the Mount Eden School will be Nliered to eorno extent by the erection of Wie MaungaWhau School. , ■- ■ . ■
