SUMMARY AND FORECAST.

Present indications are for haiy, unsettled, 1 and, cloudy weather, with rain in most parts of the country, especially on the East Coast of the South Island. A temporary rise in tho barometer is probable everywhere, with , strong winds predominating for a short time. Heavy rain, with southerly winds strong to gale, have been experienced on the East Coast of the South Island, southward of Banks Peninsula. Snow has also been reported on higher levels. Rain has fallen in most parts of the Dominion, and cloudy and unsettled weather has prevailed. The barometer is lowest about Cook Strait,.and the winds have decreased today. ' D. 0. BATES.
