JOHNSONVILLIE TOWN BOARD.

Tho regular bi-weekly meeting of tho Jolmsonvillo Town Board was held on Tuesday evening, Mcssts. F. T. Mooro presiding. Messrs. A. J. May, 0. Jerusalem, and L, Lawrenco were also present. • Tho board's resident engineer (Mr.'Fox) reported that excellent progress was being made in laying the gas mains, which work is being performed by day labour, and that the three petrol machines for generating the gas had been installed with tlio exception of o. few final connections. Tho sewerago and water works contract wero reported as still progressing very slowly and it was added that, unless better progress i 9 made within the next fortnight, further'penal clauses will havo to bo enforoed> Tho engineer was directed to notify tho contractor for tho installation of tho'suction gas power plant for pumping water to tlio high level reservoirs tliat unless tlli3 work is oomplebed in two -weeks the board mil complete tho work at his (tho contractors) expense. Tlio contractor for tho water service connections is to bo written to regarding ccrtain damage to a grocer's cart. Tho owners of tho unlicensed Railway Hotel are to bo called upon to remove tho part of their building- which tho board alleges encroaches upon Burgess Road.

Tho owner of an old dwelling on Main Street, which has been condemned is also to ljo notified to remove tho same. A deputation complained of tho length of time that sewerage trenches were kept open in the streets and of insufficient lighting of tlieso dangerous places at. night; also of holes in the streets caused by subsidence after tlio sower drains are filled up. Tho deputation was informed that tho board would put these matters right at tho contractor's expense, if ho failed to do so himself.
