MANAWATU A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL REPORT.

The annual report of the .Manawatu and West Coast A. and I". Association covering tho twelve months ended January 31 last, states that the total amount transferred to profit and loss account, under the'heading of donations <£IH7 2s. (id. T'lio revenuo from membership was ,61112 125., as against .£llOl 'is. Od. for the previous year. Referring to negotiations for certain road rights by tho Show Ground the committeo says it is of opinion that tho lime is fast approaching wheiu the showgrounds must not only bo extended, but must bo re-modelled, in fact, important work is being held back now for this. To allow of tliis being carried out, it has becoino necessary to acquiro another section.

Tho. complaints of exhibitors bringing valuable stock from the north to the Spring Show, with regard to the trying journey over the Main Trunk line, led the secretary to seek for a remedy. After making inquiries, it was suggested that this might ba found'in first obtaining the support of the northern breeders and exhibitors to guarantee a'stated-num-ber of entries, say enough to fill a train, after which tho Department could then be approached to run a. "special." Messrs. Lancaster and the secretary were appointed delegates to attend a • meeting. held at Cambridge Show in March. At that meeting . tho_ question of reciprocity in the matter of entries from this end for the northern shows as well as the matter of the trains, was discussed, those assembled being most heartily in favour of the movement, and agreeing to use all endea'vonrs to bring the scheme to fruition. Many promises of support beinsr verbally given to the delegates, a strong deputation from the committee was appointed to wait on the .Minister for Railways, who agreed to put on a "special" each for this year's Manawutu and Auckland Spring shows as an experiment. If these trains meet with success, then the scope can be widened, and it is houed that great good will result to A. and I'. Associations, breeders, buyers, and tho public generally.
