At the beginning ot' 18!)2 lie went as traffic manager to Invercargill, whore ho remained for nine or ten yeans. He was subsequently traffic manager at \\ anganni and at Christchuroh, and when -Mr. Arthur retired at Wellington Jio was appointed to tho position of senior district traffic manager for Die North Island. -Mr. A. Duncan, district traffic manager, Olreymouth, becomes district traffic manager at Wellington. Mr. Duncan joined the service in Christchurch. He was afterwards traffic inspector at Auckland, <ilid ftnlioiimastcr at Newmarket. J.'ollowingthat ho was stationmaster at Picton, Whangarei, Oainaru, mid Duncdiji. lie then went to Greymoulh. -Mr. I'. L. J). l'ayne, slalionniastor at Clirislchurcii, is to talio tho position of district stntiounia=tcr at Westport, "ice Mr. Ashley, retiring- on superannuation. Mr. Payne was stationmaster in the early days at Wellington, and afterwards at Biverton and Napier. From there lioirent to Christchurch. Mr. J. Ucvin, traffio clerk .at Duned-in, sinco 1901, becomes 'district traffic manager nt Greymouth. slr. lievin joined the sen-ice at Dunedin, and went through tho various departments there. 110 -was afterwards traffic clerk at Invercargill from 1592 to 1S!)7, and traffic clerk ot Auckland from 1807 to 1901. Mr. f. W. Waito has been appointed traflio manager at Dunedin. Mr. Waito joined tho scrvioo in Canterbury, and afterwards went as traffic, clerk to Auckland, and then as rating clerk and chief clerk in the general manager's office. Ho then became traffic manager at ■Cliristchuroh, anil afterwards at Auckland. Mr. C. A. Piper, who lias been appointed traffic superintendent for tho North Island, joined tile scrvico in Christchurch. 110 was traffic clerk, Dunedin, from 1881 to 1S!)7. Iln then went as I r.iifir, manager at Grcymouth. afterwards to Wauganui, and then to Invwcarsiil, A_few years ngo Mr. Piper succeeded Mr. Giant as senior district .traffic manager for tlio South Island ruain lino ami brandies.
