AN IMPORTANT REPORT.

' Til© International Wireless Conference in its report recommends the Government to. legislate, for the compulsory installation of wireless plants on certain classes of ships and the establishment of 'coastal stations. A permanent servioo is roquircd for the adequate'needs of navigation. The conference adopted the revised regulations for the exchange of messages between ships , and shore. ■ The most important .decision is th<vt for provision of an auxiliary source of power,' so as to be able to work the' apparatus for iat least six hours unaffected by the stoppage of the ship's engines. Qualified operators must be carried'on first-olass ships, and to be on continuous duty.; Those on second-class ships, where o. permanent watch is impracticable, must listen for. the first ten minutes of every hour. • ' ■ •The next conference will be held in '(Washington in 1917. .
