CATTLE FOR JAVA.
(By Tcleeraph.-PresE Association.) Auckland, July 8. The first shipment of dairy eattlo for Java left this evening by the Westralia, one Shorthorn bull and 29 cows, of various breeds having been purchased by Mr. P. L. J. Mulder in tho Auckland district. Jlr. Mulder explained that upon the arrival of the "Westralia at Sydney the cattle would be placed on a lighter, bceawo, if once landed in' f 'Australia"Kp w'l&ld nd't' bs allowed to (.ake them to Java. From tho lighter the cattle in due course will be transferred to.the Dutch steamer Waerwyck,,and conveyed to their destination. It is estimated that by tho time they arc landed in Java tho cattle will have cost about ,£3O per head. The cost' of running a dairy farm depends largely upon the wages paid out ro helpers. To keep the wages bill down without reducing the earning capacity of the farm is a problem farmers have* to face. In most cases the. position finally resolves itself into a question of up-to-date machinery versus- manual labour, and the former fjnds favour. The wages, of two or three men can be saved where aii "Anderson" Oil Engine is in use. Moreover, the work will Ire done quicker and better, nnd without any bother. "Anderson" Engines are very easy to start, and are so simple in construction that do supervision is required. They are perfectly steady, and cost practically nothing for upkeep, apart from the small outlay'for fuel. When installing a milking plant stipulate an "Anderson" Oil Engine.
