CITY FIRES.
Two fires yesterday demanded tbo attention of tho city brigade. At 11.16 a.m. a call was received, to 101! Austin Street— an eight-roomed dwelling, owned and occupied by Mr., Vt'm. Giondining. Mr. (Wendming, who is ill in bed' at tho present time, had a fire in his bedroom and tho heat caused the bedding to light. Tho outbreak was extinguished, after trifling damage had been done. Tho hirudins is covered for .£7OO in tho Guardian Office, and the contents for iC3SO in the same office. At 7.19 p.m. tho brigado was summoned to suppress a'n outbreak at 172 Aro Street —a- four-roomed dwelling occupied by Ernest Seatonbry. , Tho firo was evidently caused by a defective fireplace, and tho building and .contents were badly damaged. Messrs. E{?p?r Bros, are tho agents, but the insurances were not ascertainable. A four-roomed dwelling adjoining No. 172 was slightly damaged.
