It was impracticable to attempt to rescue anything from tho business portion of tho building, where tho flames had a strong hold, but a fow of tho personal effects of tho manager, Mr. Wifchell, were saved from tho' rear.
lho bank had been erected about six vears. Tho insuranoos were .£7OO on tho building and ,1!150 on the furniture. Tho latter risk was held by the New Zealand Office, and £1M of the former by the Slate.
