At the Bridge, the leading division included: Wingarara, Forest Prince, Lion, and Uxbridgo. Coming into tlio straight, Lion showed the way to Wingarara and "Uxbridgo. Wingarara led over the last hurdle from Uxbridge. A good race home resulted. Wingarara won by a length. Lion was one and a half lengths away. Time, Sniin. 47sec. BLAKENEY SECOND AGAIN. (Rec. J. D. Ormoml purchased in England a thoroughbred colt,' King's Mark, which has been in Lord Falmouth's stud. It is a magnificentlybred , horse' by Marco, and the purchase is a great acquisition to the blood stock of the Dominion. CORRECTED ENTRY. ißy Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' : Christchurch, July G. The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club, under Part XVI, Rule 0, liavo allowed the correction of tho entry of Captain Jingle. Tho telegraphic entry in the Grand National Hurdles was mi error in transmission, and the horse should have been entered in the Grand National Steeplechase. NOTES'AND COMMENTS. [By Glencoe.] Owners are reminded that acceptances for the first day's events at tho Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting closo •at 0 o'clock to-night. Entries for tho Trial Plate aro duo at Hie same time. The V.R.C. Grand National meeting will bo concluded at Flemington next Saturday. Starter A. G. Woods, who did good work at the barrier at Gisborne last, week,.was on Saturday compelled to enter tho hospital there to undergo an operation. It appears that the official in question got out of his bed at Napier on Wednesday so as not to disappoint tho Gisboriie Club when obviously unwell. Ho stuck to his post on both days, but on Friday evening collapsed, and was taken to tho hospital tho following day. The trouble was gastrio poisoning. After the success of Armagh at Gisborno his owner supported the Salvadan gelding to win tho Grand National Steeplechase. Unless the fenccs prove too formidable for him, Williamson's gelding should be able to give a good account of himself, as ho has great pace on the flat, and was once credited with running one mile and three-quarters over hurdles in 3inin. lOsec. Tho report that Whakaweira was to l>e turnod out after his run at Hastings ia denied. It is stated that the Old Pilgrim's Progress gelding will be a certain starter at Wellington next week. The MonschikofF gelding Dogger Bank was sold on Saturday last for 33 guineas. It is extraordinary tho number of horses in tho past that have been successful at Gisboroo, and then went on and won tho National doublo at Riccarton. To Arai and Paisano, the successful combination ; of two years ago, is a case in point. D. Moraghan is bringing Merrimax for the Trial Plate, Taiaha for tho steeple events, and Master Theory for the Hurdles at the Trenthain meeting. The trio are due here on Tuesday when Captain Jinglo and Amaru will also arrive. Lance Chest, who won tho Princess of ' Wales's Stakes on Thursday, was entered for tho Derby, but whether he started will not be knbwn until the next Eng- : lish mail arrives.' Unfortunately ho has ■ not been entered for the St. Leger, nor ! for tho Eclipse Stakes. The several sue- ■ cesses of sons of Spearmint make it appear (US if the son of Carbine is going to prove as great « sire as he was n. racehorse. Last year Lance Chest decisively 1 beat Tagalie in the Hook Two-year-old Plate at Sandown, and now he has van- 1 finished another great performer in Prince « Palatine. ' It is understood that Mr. T. Fnhey , will ride P. T. Hogan's promising hunter, Vulvar Boy, in the event cf his class at the C.J.C. Grand National gathering next f month. . ( J. V. M'Gregor, who won the A .R.C. j Grand National Hurdles on Wingarara j on Saturday, rode Confide to victory m the Steeplechase last year. j Mr. L. Robertson, owner of Wingarara, t winner of the V.R.C. Grand National c Hurdles, is tho ex-New Zealawler, who is best known a trotting yeinsnian. Recently Mr. Robertson has taken gaL lopers in hand and lias won_ several races with Merry Monarch and Wasseca. At Myrosa Bush tho other day Mr. T. Fahey sustained a severe loss through having to destroy his well-known hunting mare Mona, a daughter of the trotting sire Berlin Doll. The mare, who was unmistakably in foal to Applegarth. was j gored by a bull (says the Southland c "Times") and had consequently to be T| put out of her misery. Monti was a f . noted wire-jumper, and also won many ,] prizes at agricultural shows and military rj encampment. ,| Prince Palatine, who won tho Ascot Gold I Cup ran second to Lance Chest in the t' Princess of Wales's Stakes, may meet tho )i Derby winner, Tagalie, in tlio Eclipse 7 Stakes at Sandown Tark this month. g
