The rainfall for Wanganui for June was 4.05 inches, as compared with 3.57 inches for tho same mouth of last year, liain fell on 20 days, tho frieatest twenty-four hours' fall lxunc; O.M inches. The mouth generally was marked by bleak and unpleasant weather. Committees representing Wanganui and Wanganui Fast llorough Councils sat in conferenco' last night, to discuss proposals for .amalgamation, and decided to recommend, tho respective councils .to amalgamate, on condition that all liabilities, assets, and undertakings of tho two boroughs bo taken over by the amalgamated borough, that the same rate be struck over the then borough, with equal privileges to all parts in matters of gas, water, etc. Tho annual meeting.of the Wanganui Caledonian- Society was held yesterday. Tho report staled'that the past year Had been a successful one from every -point of view, and tho finances were in a satisfactory condition,, theroi being a credit balance of £\V los. '3d. Jlr. D. Boss was re-elected president, and Mr. "N. -M'Kcnzic Forbt-s was re-elected secretary.
