WANGANUI JOTTINGS.
(By Teleiraph.-Bp«ot«l Corr«!Dondent.) Wanganui, July 5. The apparent inability of tho Education Department to see ahead in tho case of rapidly-growing districts has received another illustration at Wangnmu East. School, whoro the whole of tho pupils ot two standards have had to be transferred to the Town Hall on account ol tho overcrowded condition of the school, and this, too, in face of the fact thai SHI children are at present absent through an epidemic of mumps. This overcrowding occurs periodically nt Wanganui Last, but eaoh time tho Department seems to consider it sufficient to extend the building just sufficiently to -meet present requirements. The general result is that, in a little while, the old trouble, recurs. The Wanganui County Council 10-ilny pnssed a resolution agreeing In receive back into tho county that portion recently cut oil from the Borough oM\ an»nn'ui East, which, being farming land, will probably be considerably bettor served by the change. The council also carried a resolution taking tho control of tho main roads in the county from road lxmrds, and vesting the saino in the County Council.
