VARIOUS IMPRESSIONS.

MR. WILFORD AT THE NEW ZEALAND CLUB. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., was the guest of the New Zealand Club at luncheon yesterday. Mr. P. C. Freeth presided. In reply*to the toast of his health, Mr. Wilford entertained his hosts with an interesting review of his impressions—social, politico!, and industrial—gained during his recent tour abroad. He had covered some thousands of miles in his travels, and he proposed, he said, to serve his impressions a la tabloid. Industrial unrest was manifest everywhere, particularly in America, and the very difficult problem of sootliing this spirit of unrest must be by way of social reform, evolutionary in its process, but immediate in its inauguration, in order that evolution might not be superseded by' revolution. In this.connection 'lie referred to tho movement, towards co-partnership and profit-sharing— co-partnership was the antithesis of syndicalism. Speaking personally, he would go tho length of introducing legislation giving preference to firms adopting copartnership in Government contracts. Mr. Wilford concluded his remarks with a short account of points of scenic interest noted in his travels, and at the close was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
