A most interesting paper upon "Socialism," us expounded in New Zealand by street-corner orators, and by Messrs. liickey, Semple, and Savage was read by Mrs. Weston, who spoke somewhat trenchantly upon thu doctrine that, as preached by these men, sweeps asido all agreements"that prove in any way inconvenient. A considerable number of visitors from Wnngnnui- and its outskirts were conveyed to the spot by special Irani, and in all the.™ must have been close upon one hundred and seventy present. Tho hall was beautifully decorated with native shrubs, ferns, and bunting. Tho balcony represented the bridg? of a steamer, and one almost imagined oneself on board, so realistic was the ell'ect. There were the wheel, starboard and port lights, and iron railing, allot' which were decorated with ferns, and two line lifebuoys were to be seen suspended from the railing. Several lounges and «isy chairs were placed for the chaperones and those who did not dance. The orchestra (O'Hara's) occupied part of the balcony, and the. music was bright throughout.
