The death is announced at Suva (Fiji) of Mr. Humphrey Berkeley, a well-known barrister in the group. Mr. Borkeloy was born iu 1800, at St. Kills, Leeward Islands, West Indies. Ho was a eon of Sir. Thomas Berkeley, C.SI.G., president of the Federal Council of that colony, and a younger brother of Sir Henry Berkeley, Kt, late Chief Justice of Fiji, now At-trrncy-Gcncral of Hong-Kong. He arrived in Fiji in 1892; and immediately upon his admittance to tho Bar commenced tho practice of his profession. He quickly attained to a leading position, not oniy at tlio liar, but also in tho public lifo of 'the colony. In. the practice of his profcMion lie was actively associated with all (ho more important and celebrated cases which have engaged tho attention of the Supremo Court of Fiji during tho past 20 years. Mr. Arthur Kombor, a brother of Mr. Henry Kember, accountant and auditor, of this city, died in Wellington at an early hour yesterday morning. The deceased, who was G2 years of ago, was born in Surrey, England, and was educated nt Sydenham College Ho spent some years in France, where he was engaged in the .silk trade. Somo thirty-five years ago he came to New Zealand, and followed this profession of an accountant in various places. Ho married Miss Marion Allen, of Timsu'u, wTio predeceased him by eighteen years.
