HIGH-CLASS CLYDESDALE.
FOR A SOUTHERN BREEDER.
A six-year-old Clydesdale, British Time, is, according to a southern report, being imported by Messrs. Wright, btcphenson, and Co., to'the order of Sir. Donald ilacdonald, of Edendale, and will bo shipped early hi August, so as to reach Xew Zealand about the middle of September. The. animal in question was placed first in the three-year-old class at Ayr, and afterwards secured the championship at the same meeting. That year he- was secoiiu nt Kilmarnock, and second at the Highland and Agricultural Department's show at Stirling. In 1910 British Time was third at the Highland Societies' Show, Dumfries, and in 1911, «t five years old, he whs third at the Highland Society's show at Inverness. On all of these occasions he beat such Clydesdales as Scotland Yet, Hiinure Footprint, Sam Black, and among others Baron Belmout, Black Douglas, Craigie Duraiulo, Squire Hounlcl, Aliltinc'.es, Valdor, Baron Ideal, Auclienflower, and Sir. Spencer. In reference to this horse the "Scottish Ftmncr" reports as til lows:—"British Time Ik are i> strong resemblance to the noted ilontro.se Sentinel. He was- bred by Dunc-on Blair, Woodlan?. Stirling, and was got. by Up to Time (10173). He is a very thick, low set, round ribbed, wide hor.-e. with plenty rili< and great draught hor.-e character. He has capital feet and legs, and goes away from you to perfection, turning the points nf Ms hocks the right way, ami flexing his hocks nt every movement. He is criticised as of the old-fashioned type, which is true, but so far from being a defect it. is a clear merit in these days, when 'shelly" (ill horses with no width or depth of rib abound and are ?o narrow that 'you could hdl shoot them endwise.'
