THE LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The adjourned monthly meeting of tlie Land Board was held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, yesterday. . Those present were: Jlr. T. N. Brodrick (Commissioner of Crown Lands, iu tlio chair), and Messrs. J. Dawson, H. T. Ellingham, and .los. Georgetti. Tlio following application were dealt with ( Jh'. J. G. Bi'eechin having npplicd for a renewal of his lease of Kducation Reserve 2, Block VII, Jlangahao, it u<us resolved to obtain 11 report and valuation from tlio Crown Lands Hauler for the next meeting. Mcwrs. K. B. and C. Savor, and K. N. Say well applied for a license to lloat timber down tlio Waiohino River from Totara Flat to tlie Jlain North Road Bridge. Resolved to obtain reports before. dealing with the mutter. Jlr. John M'Murehio wrote with reference to the proposed forfeiture of liis interest in Section -13, Block XIV, Oliakune V.S., 9 acres II roods 37 perches, and explained why he had been unable to effect the required improvements. Resolved to grant till December 1 next to comply with requirement?, othenviso his interest will be forfeited. Mr. AV. 11. Adaiv wrote with reference to the deficient improvements on Section 25, Block XIX, Ohakune, 15 acres. Kesolved to grant him until after nest burning .season to comply and prepare for talcing up liis residence on the land after then. Mrs. J. Coldstream attended with reference to Section 15, Block X, Horopito West, and osked to be allowed to surrender the same. Sue was advised to put in her application which would then be duly considered. She also referred to tlic question of .tlie boardinghouso on Section 23 and . asked that she bo allowed to pay for the section on which it stands by instalments. H was resolved to luvvo the matter looked into.
Mr. Courtney, representing Messrs. Brown, Dean, and Xeave. appeared before the board on behalf of Mr. James Aiken's application for Sections 50 and 51, Block IX, Ongo, which was declined by the lioard on the 31.st May, 1312. Resolved (o recommend the salo to Mr. Aiketi under Section 131 of the Land Act, 1908, at a price of ,£27 per acre.
VI t was resolved to reoffer Section 6, Block Vir. Kangafaua Township, 1 rood, on renewable lease at an anniiul rent of ,£2. With regard to Section 1, Block X, Karioi, tho lease of which expires on June 30, 1912, it was resolved to offer a new lease for a term of 7 years under Section 30S of the Land Act, 1903, at a rent of 2-. per aero per annum, weighted with the ranger's valuation for improvements. Jlr. B. Baker applied to sublet Section 31, Block XII, Apiti, 205 acres, to Jlr. A. Gibson, for 5 years at a rental of .£lO5 per annum. Resolved to postpone for further particulars and obtain a ranger's report. Jlr. A. 12. Stokes applied to sublet Section 32, Block Vlllj Belmont, Mannparaki Settlement, 2-i acres 1 rood 9 perches, to Jlr. T. S. W. Johnson for three years at c£32 10s. per annum. Resolved to postpone for further particulars as to the terms of tlio sub-lease.
John Law applied to sub-lense 300 acres of Section 42, Block I, Kualiine, 313 acres 1 rood 8 perches, to Jle.ssrs. C. Hopkins and W. I'. Hopkins, for 7 years—Approved.
Jlr._o. G. Avcv.y applied to sublet 270 and 277, l'aetihi Y.S., 12 acres 2 roods 38 perches, to Jfrs. .T. R. Gould for 4 years and two months at Jida per annum.—Declined.
Jlr. A. L.Sievors applied lo sublet Sectipn_ 12 and Part 12 of Section 8, Block Xl.\, Jlangaliao, 120 acres 2 Toods 1 porch, to Jlr. L. Lawrence. —Declined.
An application from Mr. C. Gilford to have a small area of Section 2, Blork I, Havrtrey, added to his Section 1 mi joining, so as to obtain a bolter access was considered.—Unsolved to approve, and to imeiul tho areas, and capital values acordinjfiy. . .

An application from Messrs. Goldfinch and Co. for a lease of about 10 acres of Crown land between Main Koad and Ure-w-era Block, north of the M>.karunui Stream, was considered, and it was resolved to allow them to apply' for <v Icase of this land as a sawmill site, under Suction 307 of The Land Act, 1908, for a term of se\en years, at a rent of .£lO per annum, subject to the usual conditions, applicants to pay of survey. Mr. J. A. Stone-Wigg, the registered owner of arljoininii lnnd, having applied for Section 4i>, Block XIII, Wairarapa, 2JS acres, it was resolved to recommend that ho bo allowed to purchase the freehold (under Section 53 of The lieserves and Other Lands Disposal, elc., Act, 1907, at the price of .CMOO, subject to tho condition that the Crown recognises no liability on its part to provide road access to this land.
Mr. J. 11.I 1 . Ward, the occupier of Improved Farm Section 21, Block X, Hunua, having applied for exemption from residence until the milling timber is removed, and permission to let his dwelling in tho meantime, it was resolved to decline tho request, and to require full compliance wilh the residential conditions.
.It was resolved to rescind resolution of July 20, 1909, with Tegard to Awaruu ■ie Block, 208 acres 2 roods, and to approve of this land being set aside as "a reserve for scenic purposes. It was resolved, subject to the consent of tho Minister for Lands, in terms of Section 131 of The Land Act, 1908, to sell Section 10, Block Till, Hunua (6 acres) to Messrs. Barker Brothers selectors of adjoining Section 47, Block IX, Hunua, so as to provide sites for the. homesteads for the two brothers in partnership, nt a price to bo fixed at the next meeting of the board. '
A road having lwon properly closcd through Section 2, Block IV, Tln'miit, under The I.and Act, 1908, it was resolved to add tho same to the section, and to call in and amend the lease accordingly. A road having been properly taken and closed through Section 10, "Block IV, Humia, under The Land Act, 1908, it was resolved to call in and amend tlio lease accordingly. . A road having been properly taken and closed through Section 3. Block XIV. Ngamatea, under Section 11 of The Land A.ct, 1903, it was resolved to call in and amend the lease accordingly. A further renort was received from the Crown' Lands Banker with regard to Mr. G. W. Wilkinson's non-rceidenco on Section 93, Taihape Extension V.P.. 3 acres 0 -roods 1G perches.—Resolved to forfeit for noncompliance. With reference to the proposed forfeiture of Mrs. Hogg's interest in Section S3, Block- VJII, Belmont, Normandale Settlement—Resolved to forfeit.
Tho Kiwitoa County Council forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting to ,£335 IDs. 2d. Tho ranger having reported favourably, it was resolved to approve, subject to the uitcration recommended by him. The Mangawhero Koad Board forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting to ,EIIG 4s. 3d,, which were approved subject to investigation by the ranger.
The Akitio County Council submitted proposals for tho expenditure of accrued thirds amounting to .£3Ol 9s. Bd., which were approved, subject to investigation bv the ranger.
Mr. H. E. Gosnell wrote intimating his desire to terminate his temporary tenancy of Sections 2 to 25, Block 11, Waipoua township—lt was resolved to agree to his relinquishing hia. temporary tenancy of the sections on the expiration of three mouths from tho date of his notice, upon payment of the rent up to the date of such expiration, also to five him notice under the Fencing Act to erect a fence between these sections and Lots 3 and 4 of Section 101, Block 1, Otahoua, held by. him on a seven years' lease.
It was resolved to carry out Dn Education Reserve, Section 102, Block I, Otahoua, river protection works, tlie cost of which is estimated by Mr. .1. I). Climie, inspecting surveyor, at .1:115 lis. Messrs. Smith and M'Sherry wrote with reference to a letter written by Mr. 11. Iluckley, but signed in the ne.me of 51 r. T. IJenley, with reference to the transfer of Section 4, Block IV, Puketoi, ami after the letter was read Ihe board decided to take 110 further action.
