Lemons are still in good demand, choice Milduras selling at 12s. to lis. per case. Very few Sydney-grown lemons are available. Passion-fruit are selling freely from ss. to Os. per half gin case, according to quality. Oranges l'rom New South Wales are expected next week. Mandarins are selling at Ss. to 10s. Gd. per gin ease. Seville oranges meet with good demand at Ss. to Its. jier case. The season for pears is about over, and any choice dessert sorts coming forward realist) extreme rates. Cooking varieties quit from ss. to 7s. per case. Local greenhouse tomatoes are selling front 7s. to 10s.'per half-case. There were 110 grapes available this week, (lie season being over. AH root vegetables are in heavy supply, ami values are low. Beetroot sells at from 3s. Gd. to 4s. Gd., parsnips 3s. to ■Is. Gd„ carrots 2s. Gd. to 3s. Gd., white, turnips Is. to 2s. fid. Onions (mostly inferior) are plentiful at ?,s. Gd. to ."is. fid. per bag of 1001b. The market is heavily stocked with potatoes, and as growers cannot ship to Australia, there is every prospect of a decline 011 present' quotations. Yesterday's values were .£'s to .I*s 10s. per ton. Cabbages realise Is. to 35., cauliflowers ss. to 10s., French beans, Is. 11,(1. per lb, lettuce 2s. to 3s. per case, celery 2s. to lis. per dozen head,, pumpkins,' ss. to (is. fid. per sack, marrows is. to OS. I'lowers*;ire in great demand, violets selling, at Is. to 2s. fid. per dozen bunches; jonquils and daltodils sold yesterday at .from Is. (id. .to 2s. per dozen blooms; li-eesias sold at Sd. per bunch, anemones Gd. to Oil. per dozen blooms, and wattle anil other flowers all sold well.
Eggs are fairly, plentiful, yesterday's wholesale quotations being Is. sd. to Is. Cd. per doj.en. Fowls are in demand at 3s. to Is. fid. per pair, and ducks 3s. to Gs.
There is absolutely no-reason why dairy farming should be one long grind in (heso days of lalwur and time-saving machinery.
