Tho annual bonus distribution which is such an important feature of this groat Society is to-day brought prominently before the members by the issue of the ljonu9 certificates for tho year ending December 31, 1911, which wero received by them this morninß throughout tho Commonwealtli of Australia aud tho Dominion of Kew Zealand. Tho cash surplus available for distribution was .£879,111, and this will provide reversionary bonuses of about 550,000 which will no doubt bo highly gratifying to tho members. To-day is also the forty-first anniversary of tho establishment of the New Zealand branch of tlio society, and it is now in the proud position of having a larger amount of business on its books than any other life institution doing business in tho Dominion. The total policies in force at December SI last in the ordinary department was 42,011, assuring .fit,251,641, including bonus additions, while in tho Industrial Department there wero 14,952 policies in force assuring JE531,726._ The new business written for 1911 was far in excess of any previous year and comprised 3321 policies assuring J51,015,C95 in the ordinary department, and 5901 policies, assuring *£229,001 in tho Industrial Department, which, takeu together, is equal to an assurance of about ,C 1 ss. nor head of tho wholo population of tho Dominion.
