EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held yesterday, thera being present the chairman (Mr. llobert Lee), and Messrs. J. G. W. Aitken, A. W. Hogg, W. Proeinan, J. .Kebbell, A. 11. Vile, Wm. Allan, and W. H. I'ield. The statement of finances disclosed a debit balance for the month ended June 21 of .5270 Us. Bd. The debit balance of the previous month was £WU 6's. Bd. Tiio chairman remarked that tiie position of the board's finances was very satisfactory. The resignations of the following {eaoliers were a'ceepted :—Miss M. E. Lee (Ifainua), Miss L. Ainsworth (relieving staff), Mr. YV. J. Cl-achan (Brooklyn), Miss C. Henderson (Training College student). GRAM'S FOR WOEKS. Grants for the following works, supplies, etc., were authorised: Khandalla'h, screenings for paths; Fonatahi, strainers to old tanks; Bakaumii, new latl'ine buildings, repairs, painting, etc.; Mangamahoe, painting, papering, etc., to residence; Scarborough, repairs; i'irinoa, extra tank, etc.; Hastwell, half cost of fence, and cost of dividing fence; Newtown, renewal spouting; Mount Cook Boys', repairs and renewal for spouting; Makuri, repairs ;o shed, latrine building, and spouting; Kongomai, repairs to fences and spoutin;:: Porirua, renewal of conveniences and sheds, general overhaul, etc.; Johnsonville, drainage, extension hoods, purchase of an acre of land, repairs to fencing, and cupboard; South Wellington,latrine buildings in brick; Tokomaru, cupboard, woodshed, top-dressing, asphalt; Maranui, extension of wall to,prevent Hooding, other matters deferred tor further consideration; Clyde Quay, improved ventilation; Kilbirnie, extra amount required for asphalting, Channels, anil gates; .Koputaroa, renewal of fencing round residence; Bongokokako, subsidy on amount raised for I ground improvements; Kaiparoro, metal; Kaiwarra, removal of fence to new position, .and cost of posts for tho side fence.
Applications from South Wellington, erection of sheds, Rongokokako, filters, Ngaio, electric light, were declined. Library subsidies wore granted to Koputaroa. (135.), lhuraua. (12s. Gd.), Lansdowne (.£2), Martinborough (.£1).
It was resolved: Kaiwaiwai (improvement of residence)— That tho clerk of works repoi't further, lirooklyn (repairs to fence) —That tlie adjoining, owners' be communicated with regarding condition of fences. Terrace (flooding of adjoining property)— That the legal position bo determined and action taken accordingly. Kketahuna—That the exchange of tho area offered by the Borough Council for a frontage of COft. at the back of the old site be approved.
