The Cost of Living- Commission' to-day added Hi tribute. When the proceedings; opened, the chairman (Mr. Edward Tre ; gear) said members of the commission, were in deepest sympathy with the sor* : row felt by tho people of Auckland. The life" of Sir John Logan Campbell had been one of interest to those people who livcl outside of Auckland as well as those wife lived inside. The important part he hoc played in tho history oE New Zealand had endenred him to citizens in all parts of the countrv, and the commission wished to offer their tribute of _ sympathy-' with the citiwms of Auckland in bo*,', reavemcnt aud sorrow.
