Tho results of tho different five-round bouts were as follow:— Feather-weight contest.—J. Barr (Wairarapa champion) beat A. Quinn (Bush). Welter-weight—l). Falconer (Bush) v. B. Kelly (Bush), a draw. BOWLS.

By Telczraph—Press Association—Copyrieht. London, Juno 19. The New South Wales bowlers defeated the Banbury Club by 01 to 51. PETOXE CLUB. The committee of the Petone Bowling Club, in its annual report for the year ended May 31, expresses regret at having to record the death of two esteemed members—3lr. W. Warden and Mr. J. Instone. Both, were regular attendants at the green. The report shoits a very satisfactory position financially, there a sum of .£32-133.-94. to credit. Twelve new members were elected during the year, and seven resignations received and accepted. Tlie total membership at tho end of the year was 96 active and six honorary members. Social matches were played Vith all the city and snburuin clubs, and were mnch appreciated by Hie members, and the club is to bo highly con-' gratulatcd in only having one loss in these games. The committee recommends that the game Railway Representatives v. the Rest of the Club be made an annual fixture, as it proved :-o enjoyable last year. The thanks of the committee are Extended to Messrs. Henry (green superintendent) and H. Palmer for top-dressing the green. The work has been done in a very satisfactory manner. The committee places on record its appreciation of the way in which the new caretaker (Mr. . M'Callum) has carried out. his duties and studied the interests of the members.

Woodgate (an authority on rowing, and who was a member of the Oxford crew in 1862 and 1803, and winner of the Diamond Sculls in 1801), and Ilr. I\ S. Kelly (an Australian sculler, and treble winner of the Diamond Sculls) favourably criticise the Australian eight. Other critics consider that their swing and oars aro too short, and the legs insufficiently used. The members of the Australian creware well satisfied with their speed tests, which equal those of some of tho best English crews.
