RECIPROCITY WITH CANADA

The Chamber of Commerce, in response to the representations of agriculturists, has decided to endeavour to induce tho Commonwealth Government to establish reciprocity with Canada, and renew subsequently the subsidy to shipping companies.
It was contended that much of the trade built up by Australians would bo transferred to New Zealand if the latter place was allowed first call on the cargo space of the Vancouver steamers/ An advantage of a halfpenny per pound on butter and similar advantages in other lines would accrue under reciprocity.
