STOCK NOTES FROM MOHAKA.
THE NAPIEE-CiISBOEXE lUILWAY
" The'exodus of sheep from this distract driven, to Napier during the past season has, .'.says a. Mohaka, correspondent:, been very 1 large,.no tower than having boon soiit' iiivay, while only 3080 haw been Jiroiight in. " Nino thousand , head of cnttlo have also been exported, thus'showing what a grand country for renting stock exists in this locality. Settlers are beginning to .get. anxious about the Napier-Gisborno line' of railway. * The first sod of this important lino was turned with a great fan-fare, a flourish of trumpets during the expiring days of the late Administration, with many promises of a speedy commencement. At the present way of working, the completion, of the line and the millennium will arrive about the same time. Why not let tho most important part of the line .out by contract. Settlers in these backblocks* have been entirely overlooked and neglected. No wonder that they showed their opinion, of a so-called "Liberal" Administration in no uncertain voico at the last elc-ction. Some fine lambs may be seen on tho Kakariki Station. The weather has been wonderfullv . mild-only three, severe frosts so far. , No rain of any consequence, as a result stock looks well, and runholdcrs who lost their hoggets wholesale last year have suffered very slight losses this season.
