■ SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for a. further decrease in barometric pressure northward of Westport and Kaikoura, but a rapid ri&e will pruba-bly follow in about 24 hours. Winds, variable arid strong to sale, westerlies, prevailing, and veering to southerly northward of New Plymouth and' Napier, and northcrliea, baching to a south-easterly gale, elsewhere. Heavy rain probable generally and snow on higher levels, with much colder weather following Eoon. Cloudy and unsettled weather hag prevailed, with heavy rain in parts. The barometer rose in the south during the night, but has fallen northward of Cook Strait for a, low-pressure apparently developing in that direction.
