THE WEATHER.

SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for high westerly winds veering to a southerly gale. Stormy weather is probable, with rain generally and snow on higher lcvete. The barometer will probably riso fast soon in the south, but a. falling tendency may be expected in the north. Heavy 'seas probable on all the western coast and in Cook and Fovcaux Straits. Heavy rain has fallen, and the rivers are flooded in Westland. The seas have ako been very heavy on the West Coast of the South Island.
