The by-election for the Hythe ' scat, rendered necessary by the death of tho sitting member, Sir Edward Sassoon, (Unionist), resulted:— ' Sir Philip Sassoon (Unionist) ... 3722 Mr. Moorhouse (Liberal) 2001 Sir Philip Sassoon is a son of the late member. His father was unopposed at tho last general election, and had a majority of 1792 at the previous one. He had sat for Hythe sinco 1899. The new member is 24 years of age.
