Westwood's clearing sale, there was a very large attendance. Good quality cows were very keenly competed for, and realised from £10 to .£l4; late calvers, £4 10s. to £9; three-quarter cows. £4 lo £5 10s.; some nice two-year Jersey heifers, from £8 to £10; small, £6 to £6 155.; store pigs, £1 10s. On Saturday I held my monthly horse fair when, owing to the exceptionally rough day, many of the horses intended did not arrive. Competition was anything but keen, the sale being on the slack side throughout. At ilahotu, on Tuesday, June 4, owing to wretched weather, I had only a small entry, a lot of advertised cattle not being yarded. Some good heifers were penned, meeting with very keen competition at advanced rates. Good grade Holstcin yearling heifers, from £3 6s. 6d. to £3 Bs. 6d.; others, £1 14s. to £2 145.: stoiv. £1 4s. to £1 Ife. 6d.; store cows, £2 lis. to £3: forward cows, £3 9s. to £3 lis.
