THE HUTT LADIES. On Wednesday .tost the ladies of the Hutt Club held a'bogey competition for the secretary's trophy. Mrs. Allan and Mrs. Bridge returned cards "all square." They will have to play off. The next best were Miss Foster and 'Miss AVilson 8 down. . MIRAMAR CLUB. The mixed foursome competition, under the auspices of the Miramar Club, on Saturday, was won by Miss L. Turton and M. Burnett. The weather was very unfavourablo and most of the competitors did not completo the round. ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS. London, .Tune 7. In the final of the amateur golf championship. John Ball beat Abe Mitchell at the thirty-eighth hole. THE PARTISAN ELEMENT. fey Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (Rcc. June 3. .5.5 p.m.) /London, June 8. Amongst the crowd who witnessed the golf final were many artisans who cheered Mitchell, who is a chauffeur. _ The papers comment adversely on the introduction of the partiwn element. "The Times" sars the croud was-venomous and unsportsmanlike. The "Daily News" says aristocratic spectators did not conceal their resentment at a working man playing in the final. Both players were most sportsmanlike.
Tom Ball, playing with a "Challenger Golf Ball, was ii.ii splendid form on April Cth, when he visited Bvrleot, and played two rounds with Mr. Wakley. lie completed both rounds in GS. The competition records aro (amateur) Mr. S. Mure Ferguson 70, and (professional) A. Herd, 72. All tho Icadin? amateurs and professionals play with tho "Challenger" Golf Ball. -Advt.
