CUT IN TWO.
ACCIDENT TO A FRENCH SUBMARINE. TWENTY-SIX LIVES LOST. By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. June 9, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, Juno 8. The battleship Saint Louis collided with the submarine Vondemaire, and cut it in two, at Cherbourg. Twenty-six men were drowned. (Rec. Juno 10, 0.30 a.m.) Paris, June 9. The Vanderaaire was practising attack. She rose under the Saint Louis's bow and sank in 170 feet of water. Great bubbling on the surface ensued, and the sea was covered with oil. Portions of tho Vandemairo's deck rose within twelvo minutes. WaTships immediately anchored on the spot, but nothing further was seen. Strong sea currents impede salvage work.
