Dr. Collingridge, MeiUcal Officer of Health for the City of London, reports that at the Smithneld Jleat Market he fouud tuberculosis lesions in Argentine beef which bore the Government inspection stamp. Apparently the examination in Argentina, if there was any, hail beeu most perfunctory. The Argentine Government, when it liad beeu informed of tho condition of the meat, increased the number of inspectors. Dr. Collingridgo suggests that labels similar to those placed on Australian and New Zealand beef should be attached to each quarter of Argentine beef, and should bear tho name of the inspector and I slaughterman.
