HARRIERS.

» The Wellington Club held its Novice Handicap on Saturday in a deluge of rain. Tho following men faced the starter: Donaldson, scr.; Salek, ssec; Jones, 35sec; Kerr and Arthur, 40? Ec; Jl'Donald, GOsec; Hately, 80sec.; Perkins, Msec. The course was two laps on the Hutt Park which gives two nuiles and a miarter. At lialfwav in the first lap Jl'Donald had displaced the limit men, and had a fair lead with Kerr in close attendance. The scratch man meanwhile had got up with the field, Donaldson overhauling Salek. The start of the second.lap saw Kerr with a good lend, closely followed by Jl'Donald and Salek. This 'order was held to the finish, except that Jl'Donald dropped back. Salek made a game ltd for victorv, but Kerr had too much in hand. The placed men and their times are as follow: Kerr, 14min. 40sec. 1: Salek, 14min. 15 sec, 2; Donaldson. 15min. loscc, !). Kerr is a new man and shows great promise. Salek is an old hand and bad bard luck in not getting out of the novice ranks, but he made fastest time, and all through it was a good performance. Donaldson 8s also a new man. but tho hnndicappers pave him too much to do. Next Saturday's rrtn takes place at Island Bay.
