The report submitted to the annual ■ meeting of the Palmerston Egg Circle last night, stated that, during the flight months for which the circle had been in existence, 10,145 dozen eggs had been dealt with, the average price being It-id. Mr. .f. S. Jfunro resigned as .secretary owing' to pressure of business, and Mr. W. TSierre was elected to fill tho vacancy. The following commiittee was appointed •tor the ensuing year:—Messrs. liierrc, JMed. Krarnpp, Byers, Grace, .and White. St. 'Patrick's College authorities yester'dav took over the farm property recently purchased at Terrace End. Tho Inml will %c let for grazing for a short period, but planting and laying out operations will lie commenced immediately. Dean Kcgjiault is to visit the various colleges in 'Australia with a- view of finding out the most suitable stylo of building for the new college. The public schools of the town celebrated Empire Day yesterday by the singing .of. Hie National Anthem and saluting tho flag. The weather was too inclement to permit of onv other demonstration. Points in the euchre tournament now being played by the.Friendly Societies, for the Druids' Shield, stand as follow: Druids, three wins, six points; Hibernians an-1 Foresters, two wins oach, four points; Mnnawatu and Orient Lodges, one win each,-two .points. Mr. J. F. Manning, a popular member of the staff of the Palmerston Magistrate's Court, yesterday completed his ■twentieth year on the staff.
