Mr. Mostyn Poole, for three years butterr-maker at tho Mangatoki factory, land five years cheese-maker at Kaupokojnui, has been appointed manager of the | Manakau cheese factory, vice Mr. HartIstone, who has resigned to follow farming pursuits in the Auckland district. While the lattcr's loss is regretted, Manakau farmers will bo pleased to know that his successor has had a wide experience. Tho Manakau cheese factory, which is now open for receiving milk three days a week, intends, during the winter months, to manufacture cheese for export only. [So far the cheese sent Homo has been i graded first-class, and it is hoped that its standard will bo maintained. At present somo 2200 gallons of milk is received wetkly. The highest test at the present time is 5.7. \ dangerous part of tho road near Manakau (at" a point where several accidents have occurred) is to receive attention by itlio Horowhenua Comity Council, 'the ibri(l"B near Mr. Staples'?, the scene of Imanv motor-car accidents, will also teceive i attention at au early date.
