THE WAIHI STRIKE.

Firemen are to be admitted to membership of the Auckland Engine-drivers' Union, thus bringing that organisation into line with all southern, unions. The decision to admit firemen was arrived at as a result of a ballot held during' tho past week, the votes recorded having been counted to-day. A substantial majority voted for tho admission of Iho fircmeii. This supports the protest of the Auckland Union against the formation of the proposed Waihi, Mngino-Jrivers', Winders', and. Firemen's Union, on the grounds tlmt a similar organisation existed in Auckland which they could join. The matter of registration or otherwiso of the j-.ro-posed Wiiihi Piiion how rests, with the Minister, who has been advised of the decision of tho local union.
