About'-, Wednesday or Thursday of next week the repairs to the Union Company's steamer Haupiri are expected to be completed. The will then resume her usual running, leaving Wellington on Friday, June 7, for Picton, Napier, Gisborne, East Coast bays, and Auckland. THE STAR OF. CANADA. Telegraphic advice reccivad from Auckland announces the .arrival of the Tyser liner Star of Canada from London at 8 a.m. yesterday. The vessel, which has 1000 tons of cargo' to discharge at Wellington, is due'here oil June 7. WAIMATE DUE SUNDAY. Expected to leave Auckland some tlino the New Zealand Shipping Coriifiariy's steamer Waimate is due at Wellington from St. John (New Brunswick) on Snpday. The vessel will be dispatched for southern ports on Tuesday next. S.S. WAIRAU CHANGES HANDS. It is understood that the-small coastal steamer Wairau, now at Wellington, has been bought by Captain Eekford, of Blenheim. At the present time Captain Eekford owns the Opawa and steam trawler Energy. It is likely that the Wairau'will be engaged in the trawling industry in conjunction with the latter vjssel. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. F. G. Bilton, who has been ashore on sick leave, rejoined the Mahono at Sydney this trip, relieving Mr. F. W. Jackson, who haa come a-shoro for instructions. Mr. Daly, lata mate on the coastal steamer Opawa, has been appoiuted captain 1 of. the small steamer Wairau, vlco Mr. Irvine, who ioined the Putiki as second mate yesterday. The Underwriters' Association' lias been advised that tile Union Company's new* cargo steamer Katoa, bound from Middlesbrough to Australian and New Zealand ports, oh Kcr maiden voyage, has put into Las Pailmas in consequence of her carco shifting. [It is .expected that the'Katoa will load at Bunbury in July for Wellington and Auckland.] Occasionally the Marine Department in Auckland has some trouble with oysterpoachers, and quite recently a launch, (the Clematis) was confiscated. terms undar which tlld release was granted wero the payment of a fine of £6, a redemption fee of £50, and the caretaker's charge of £9 10s. To-day the Maorilnnd Steamship Company's steamer Lauderdale is due at Melbourne from Kaipara. On completion of discharg'o the vessel loads at Huon, Tasmania, for Melbourne. , Tho Ruapeliu is expected to arrive at midnight on Saturday. At 7 p.m. last evening she was 600 miles north-east of Hobart. The Pukaki is to load produce at Oamaru and Timaru shortly for Napier, dishorn, 1 , and Auckland. On arrival at Wellington from. Paten, the coastal steamer Aorerc will lay up at this port for annual overhaul. She resumes running next week. Messrs.
