PICTURE SHOWS IN VICTORIA. By Telegraph-Press Association-Oopyright. (Rec. May 30, 11.40 p.m.) Melbourne, 3Tay 30. Mr. Watt, the State Treasurer, to-day expressed hearty sympathy with a Council of Churches deputation, which asked for the suppression of Sunday picture shows and entertainments conducted for profit. He said he would have no liesita(ation in saying that legislation should be passed to restore the Sabbath os it existed before the High Court judgment permitting the opening of these entertainments. TRADING IN SYDNEY. Sydney, May 30. Mr. M'Gowen, tlie State Premier, while sympathising with a deputation favouring the stricter enforcement of the law against Sunday trading, declined to interfere. Parliament, he said, must decide the question.
