THE WEATHER.
1 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain in most parts of the country. The winds are variablo, moderate to strong, northerly and easterly breezes, hacking for a short time to southerly. The barometer has a falling tendency, but a temporary rise is probable shortly, and a low-pressure area is due to pass in the south with stormy weather at ths end of the week. Carterton, May 28.—A heavy fall of rain was -experienced last night, but to-day was fine, although dull. Wanganui, May 28.—Dull and oppressive; drizzling rain fell in the afternoon. Hastings, May 28.—Mild temperature: few showers fell in the afternoon. Shannon,. May 28.—The weather is close and sultry. Foilding, May 28.—Pine mild day; thunder storm during the afternoon, followed by a wet night. Palmerston, May 28.—Fine morning; rain in the afternoon.
