SOCIALIST COUNTESS.
ATTACK ON LABOUR PARTY. By Te'eeraDh—Press Association—CoDyriEht (Eec. May 28, 9.5 p.m.) London, May 28. Some lively scenes have taken place at the Socialist Congress. Mr. H. M. Hyndman, who was presiding, resented insolence to which he was subjected, and remarked that some dele- j gates behaved like infuriated Anarchists. The congress then passed a motion expressing confidence in Mr. Hyndman, amid much uproar. In the subsequent debates the Countess of "Warwick criticised the Labour Party, who instead of fighting in the House of Commons, sat with meek hearts and spoke with flattering tongues. They were broken reeds, and could no longer be trusted. ME. KEIR HARDIE IN DEFENCE. (Eec. May 28, 9.5 p.m.) London, May 28. At the Independent Labour Party's conferenco at Merthyr Tydvil (Wales) criticisms were passed on the Labour party's relationship to the Government, which was described as the workers' worst enemy. Mr. Iveir Hardie defended the party, and urged the need for increasing its strength in the House of Commons, and making it more effective. '
