The Wellington Education Board had before if at its meeting yesterday a suggestion from the Assistant Inspector of Post Offices that tho board might assist 111 ail inquiry regarding tho seiectf.oll, engagement, and training of telegraph message boys.. At tho recommendation of tho Chief Inspector, it was decided to refer the matter to the City Headmasters' Association for report. SOUTH CANTERBURY DECLINES. !By Telccraph—Press Association,) Timaru, May 28. The South Canterbury Education Board has declined to take any steps to assist the officer iu recruiting telegraph messengers and cadets. A member remarked that too many boys sought town employments now, and he would not encourage picking out the best boys for town, when intelligent boys were so much wanted on farms. Another said that they would bo reducing their chances of getting good pupil teachers. The secretary stated that telegraph bays wore better paid than pupil teachers.
