His Excellency the Governor was at Auckland yesterday. The Hon. T. Buxton is at Temuka, tho Hon. Te Rangihiroa at Kawakawa (North. Auckland), and tho Hon. G. W. Russell nt Christchurch. The Hon. J. A. Hannn and the Hon. J. Colvin are in Wellington. Tho Hon. T. Mackenzie (Prime Minister) is at Palraerston. Ho will deliver a policy speech at Opunako to-morrow evening. Tho Hon. H. G. Ell is to leave Hamilton to-day for Rotorua. A Dunedin Press Association telegram states that Mr. T. R. Fisher yesterday forwarded to the Board of Directors of the Standard Insurance Company his resignation of the- position of general manager, which he has held for many years. The death occurred at Nelson yesterday of the Rev. John Crump, a veteran Methodist minister, at tho aec of 81. He was a native of ICingsland, Herefordshire, ami came to New Zealand in 1859, his first circuit being Manukau. During his long -servico Mr. Crump has been stationed in every part of the Dominion. He retired from, active work some years ago, and has since resided in Nelson. Ho was twice married, and leaves a family of six daughters and two sons.—Press Association.
Lieutenant Fennel, R.N.E., of the Antarctic ship Terra Nova, was in Wellington yesterday making filial arrangements for the coastal survey work which is to lie carried out in. the vicinity of Admiralty Bay. The Hon. W. D. S. Macdonald is to leave by Main Trunk express to-day for Auckland. Ho will be accompanied by Mr. E, W. Holmes, Lngineer-in-Cliief to the Public Works Department. Mr. Macdonald will bo absent from Wellington for about ten days. The Hon. A. M. Myers leaves to-day on a visit to Hawkc's fiav. lie will break his journey at Falmerston North to-day, to transact railway business. In Hawke's Bay also Mr. Myers will be mainly occupied with railway business. On Thursday afternoon ho will visit Hastings, and he will leave Napier on Friday morning for Auckland. The Hon. G. Laurenson '.eft Inst evening for Lyttelton. To-day ho will receive a number of deputations, and in the evening will attend the "social" to be tendered to the Hon. G. W. Russell at Christchurch. To-morrow Mr. Laurenson'a supporters at Lyttelton are to entertain him at a banquet and make him a presentation, On the same night Mr. Laurenson will leave on his leturn to Wellington. There was a large attendance of memtiers ol" the Salvation Army at the funeral yesterday of Mrs. Barker, a junior sergeant, who has lieen an earnest worker in the ranks of the Army for about twenty-eight years. The Army band played the Dead March over the city seclion of the route to Knrori. Tho servico nt the graveside was conducted by Adjutant Guun. A special memorial service is to be held on bunda.v evening. Colonel Fisher, of the headquarters staff of the Solvation Army, Melbourne, will arrive here to-day by the Mauuganui, to make arrangements for tho coming of tho new Commissioner. Colonel Fisher is well known in Wellington, and was here only n few months ago in connection with the changes now being given effect to. Mr. Douglas Bedingfield (headmaster of tho Petonc West School) has been appointed to conduct the teachers' Saturday classes in science, vice Mr. Stuckey (rawntly appointed to tho Education Board's iaepeei-erate), \
