SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for cloudy and misty weather, with rain, in mostparte , of the country, especially northward of Hokitika and Kaikoura. Increasing northerly and easterly to south-easterly winds ar2 probable generally. The barometer has a falling tendency everywhere. ~ The- barometer has continued above norma', but has been very unsteady. Saturday and Sunday proved milder, and cloudy in the north, but cool and changeable conditions have ruled in the south. Hastings, May' : 27.—Du1l morning; fine day; mild temperature. Shannon, May 27.—Fine and mild weather. Carterton, May 27.—Fine weather prevails. There was no frost this morning.
