nTMtTANGI MEETS BAD WEATIIER. After a. siormy voyage, the Chatham Islands Fishing Company's steamer Hsinitawri returned from the islands to Wellington. via Lytteiton, on Saturday. On the run dqwn to the Cliathams the vessel encountered a southerly gale and high seas. In addition to Waiiangi the vossel made calls at Owsnga. Kaingaroa, and Pitt Island, bad weather forcing' her to seek shelter several times. Strong southerly winds, amounting to a. gale at times, were experienced on the return journey. The vessel brought no passengers, and no fish, but landed TOO sheep at Lytteiton. She [wives on the return trip at 5 p.m. to-day.
HOHENFKLS DUE TO-DAY. In continuation of her journey from New York to Wellington, t-lie U.S. and A. Line's rharter;d steamer Hohenfels left Auckland at 7.5 a.m. on Saturday. KENT DUE THIS AFrEBNOON. An expected arrival at Wellington. from Livarpool, via way ports, this afternoon is the F.-H.-S. steamer Kent. She continued her iourney from Auckland at 4.25 a.m. on Saturday. On arrival the Kent will berth at the King's Wharf, and it is expected to dispatch her for southern ports on Thursday. After finishing discharge at Duc?din the Kent proceed# to the Bluff to commence Home loading. She subsequently .calls at Waitarji., Wanganui, and Picton for the same purpose. The steamer is dus hack at Wellington on June 19, sailing again for Timaru ami Lyttelton on June 23. Final departure for Avonmouth will be taken from Lyttelton on Juno 29. AWAIIOTT REPOBTED. The steamer Strathalkyn. which arrived at Sydney recently with a cargo of Oregon pine, has established a rccord for quick discharge which should be liard to beat. On two successive days she discharged 349,>000 feat and 408,030 feet respectively.. This certainly speaks well for the facilities offering at the New South Wales port. For the past two weeks or so the F.-H.-S. liner Surrey has been loading large quantities of frozen meat and other cargo at both islands. The vessel armed at Lyttclton on Saturday, and will sail for Avonmouth, via Las Palmas, on Thursday nest. Tho last connecting steamer from tho North Island will be the Maori, leaving Wellington for Lyttclton on Wednesday, at 8 p.m. ,
