SUBURBAN RAILWAY WANTS.
| THE MANAWATU LINE. | A meeting of residents of N'gaio and Khandallali was held on Saturday even- , ing, to consider the lines on which to approach tlio Government for a mora convenient and better suburban railway service on the Mnnawnlu line, ami Mr. P. IJoldsworlh, Mayor of Onslow, presided. It was resolved io reoucsfc that the daily outward service should include trains leaviug the city at 5.20 p.m., 6.25 p.m., 0.45 p.m., 11.15 p.m., and 12.35 a.m.; while inward trains should leave •Tohnsonvilic at 7.10 a.m., S.lB a.m., 10.5 0.m., and 2 p.m. It was decided to urge that nil trains should be run to time; also that an earlier train from (he city be provided on Saturdays at 5.20 p.m., and that a passenger carriage lie put on the 8.5 p.m. goods train. The deputation, which is to brine thesa matters under the notice of the Minister, was also •instructed to nslt that Newcastle coal should be used, instead of Slate coal, or. the engines, oil account of the disagreeable effect of the sulphur fumes from the latter in the tunnels. A further request is that nil suburban trains from the city should be dispatched from I lie T.ambton Station.
