i CHANCELLOR CONGRATULATES DEPUTIES. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. May 21, 11 p.m.) Berlin, May 24. The Reichstag has been prorogued to November 26. The Imperial Chancellor, Herr von Bethmann-Hollweg, congratulated the deputies on their voting on the Defence Bills, thus demonstrating their determination to maintain the nation's strength as an additional guarantees of peace. SIR GEORGE REID'S IMPRESSION. (Rec. May 21, 11 p.m.) London, May 24. Sir George Reid, High Commissioner for Australia, on being interviewed after his visit to Berlin, said he was convinced that the great bulk of the Germans were at one with Great Britain in their strong desire to bo friendly. Tho development of peace- sentiments was in no way inconsistent with the most thorough and resolute defence, for the apparent extravagance on naval and military preparations served a peaceful purpose by making aggressive war more risky.
