Well up to timo th-e Union Company's R.M.S. Manuka arrived: at Wellington from Sen Francisco, via way ports, in the early hours of yesterday morning. Slio subsequently berthed at tho Queen's Wharf No. 6. A report, of the Manuka's voyage (supplied by Mr. Andrews, purser) states that on Match 29 lastitlio vessel left Wellington in continuation of her voyage to 'Frisco, and arrived'at that- port at 330 p.m. on April 18. The return journey was commenced on May 1. Golden Gate being cleared at 1.45 p.m. The steamer left the Oaliornmn port with a large cargo (including 750 tons gerreral for Papeete), and a number of passengers in all classes, at 2.25 p.m. on May 12. Papeete was reached, and departure taken the following day, at 5.15 p.m., for Rarotonga, where the vessel' lay in Awarua Roadstead from 2 p.m. on May 15 till 7 p.in. on May 16. Departure was then taken for Wellington direct, the Manuka arriving as above. Moderate N.E. trade winds and' fine weather prevailed on the run from San Francisco to Papeete, continuing with fresh trades and fine weather along the NewZealand coast.

She returned to Lyttelton this mon;ing for repairs, and is sailing to-morrow. According to Sydney -shipping file?, the Oceanic Steamship Company's steamers Sonoma and Ventura are to resume running shortly in the 'Frisco-Sydney service. According to present arrangements the new service will be inaugurated by tho Sonoma.which is scheduled to leave »San Francisco on July 2. to be followed by the Ventura, leaving 'Frisco on July 30. Thereafter a four-weekly service ivill be maintained for a time, until the future policy of the Oceanic Company is definitely formulated. It if» therefore not known at present- whether the service wiil be extended to New Zya* land, but meanwhile a 30-day trip to London from Sydney, via 'Frisco, is an* uouueed. The Uiiion Company's tramp steamer Waitemata proceeds from Dunedin to Newcastle- to load coal for Lyttollton and Timaru. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rimutaka cleared Auckland for London at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Tiie Chatham Islands trader Himlttuigi arrived at Lyttdton from Waitangi at 1.10 p.m. yesterday. She is due at Wellington on Sunday, and leaves again for the Chatham* on Motiday. It is expected- to dispatch the Tyser liner Niwaru for Lyttelton at daybreak thi3 morning. Tho vessel would have got away last evening, but was detained on account of the rain, which fell during the early part of tho day. The vossol has just completed a thorough overhaul at this port.
