THE PRESIDENCY.
ROOSEVELT CARRIES OHIO. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyriffht New York, May 20. Reports from Columbus, Ohio, state tliat tho returns for tho Presidential nomination show that Mr. lioof-evelt secured thirty-two out of forty district delegates to the National Convention- of tho State of Ohio. TIIO- Democratic vote favoured Judge Harmon. Mr. Taft is greatly disappointed at tile lo;s of the contest in his own State. Mr. Roosevelt, on being interviewed, expressed himself as delighted at the result, and declared that Ohio had settled the question of the. Presidency. ME. TAFT CONFIDENT. (Rec. May 23, II p.m.) Washington, May 23. Mr. Taft claims that there ore bow 570 delegates who will ba in favour of him at the Chicago Republican Convention, and that this will be sufficient to secure his nomination for the Presidency. Mr. Roosevelt carried Ohio by a plurality of 25,000. The Rooseveltian delegates in that State number 32, as against 10 for Mr. Taft.
