MAUNGANUI'S SMAIiT TRIP. Once again the Union Company's intercolonial liner Maunganui has demonstrated that she hat a fair turn of speed at command. At 5.15 p.m. on Friday last she left Wellington for Sydney, but when in the vicinity of Point Halswoll some slight mishap in her engine-room caused a delay, and she did not clear the Heads until 7.15 p.m. Evidently the mishap has made no difference to' the Maunganui's steaming capabilities, for she cut out the distance in the smart tinia of 5 days 63 hours. Her previous record run botween Wellington and Sydney was ended on the night of March 11. On that occasion sho did the i'ourn;y in three days two and a half hours. TAHITI ABBIVES 6 A.M.
