CITY MEAT SUPPLY.
OPERATIONS LAST MONTH. The manager of the municipal abattoir supplied ihe Abattoirs Committee of tho City Council yesterday with particulars as to the stock dealt with during the month of April last. The animals slaughtered during the month were: lIS cows, 17 bulls, 1113 bullocks, 4G84 sheep, OSI lambs, mid 82 calves. Of fho-B numbers, 10 cows, 3 bulls, 14 bullocks, 36 sheep, and one calf were condemned as unfit for human consumption. The fees collected on slock slaughtered at the abattoir amounted to .£145 Bs. llVi., an increase, of .£'B Bs. 3M, 0 n ] a s|: month. Tho fees received on stock slaughtered at meat export works and sold within-the abattoir area totalled .SKI 9s. M. for the month, a decreaso of ,E1 '.Is. 3d. on the previous month. The amount collected on tho sale of ofl'al and runners was .£llO (is. 8d„ an increase of .£2B (is. Bd. over the previous month. The sum received for (lie cleaning of tripe, etc., was .C2G lis. !!t!., nu increase of ill JOs. on tho preceding month. The total revenue for the month was .£452 14s. Old. As compared with tho corresponding month of last year, there was an increase in slaughtering of 97 cattle, 09:: sheep, 170 lambs, and 13 calves, and a decreaso of three pigs. The animals slaughtered during the month were nf prime quality, with the exception of 32 head of cattle which were slaughtered for honing purposes.
