GIRL SCOUT'S PROMPTITUDE.
' SAVES A LIFE. (By Teleeraph—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, May 21. A striking instance of tho value of the excellent truining the Girl Peace Sjcouts are receiving was shown a few days ago at Onehunga. A lady asked one of the girls to go at once for a doctor, as her ton had cut his hand very severely. Before starting, the girl said slio would look at tho wound. Seeing at once that it was a serious case, she hastily glanced round tho room and then, snatched a reel of cotton off the tabic, made it into a pad with soft material, and bound the hand in the orthodox manner taught bv Inspector Cunningham. Then the cfirl ran for the doctor, and on his arrival he complimented her very highly on. the c.kill and promntitude shown, and told the parents that she had undoubtedly saved their son's life, as another five minutes' delay would perhaps have been fatal. Tho grateful parents, wishing to show their appreciation in a practical manner, tried to persuade the scout to accept some reward, but she firmly refused, saying she had only dono her duty.
